Prof. Dr. Birgit Renzl is the Chair of Management and Organization at the University of Stuttgart. She joined the faculty in March 2015. Her research projects are mainly concerned with knowledge management, strategic change processes and Leadership. She focuses on the organization of knowledge in companies, competence management and the implementation of Dynamic Capabilities. She has written more than 70 articles in academic journals as well as books and is part of the editorial board of “Management Learning”.
Prof. Renzl studied International Business Studies at the University of Innsbruck in Austria and at the University of Göteborg in Sweden. She worked in strategy consulting at Innovative Management Partner in Innsbruck, Austria. She was also research associate at the Department of Management with Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Hans H. Hinterhuber at the University of Innsbruck in Austria. She earned her doctorate in 2002 and qualified as a professor in 2006. She received the Dr. Maria Schaumayer foundation prize for he dissertation on knowledge-based interaction. For her research projects she spent her time at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK and at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. In 2009 she was appointed Professor of Strategy & Organization and Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at the Privatuniversität Schloss Seeburg in Salzburg, Austria.
