Student Research Paper (Technology Management)

General Information

  • Major in Marketing
  • Very good command of German and English
  • Advanced skills in academic writing (e.g., database research, excerpting scientific literature)

  • Credits: 12
  • Time frame: 6 months (see current exam regulations)
  • You will find information on the application for a student research paper under 7. Application.
  • Admission is granted only after successful application via the application form below. A confirmation of admission will be issued within a week of the deadline for applications.
  • Additionally, you need to register in C@mpus during the regular registration period for exams.
  • The content of each student research paper is determind by the students themselves.
  • Topics for student research papers at our department are currently available in the following areas:
    • Customer Experience (Management)
    • Digital Marketing
    • Marketing and innovative technologies
    • Sustainability Marketing
  • Topics currently on offer
  • research-oriented thesis / literature review thesis with practical application
  • The focus lies on researching and reviewing papers published in national and international journals on a specific research topic.
  • Additionally, the thesis should contain a component applying the knowledge gained through the literature review, e.g., in the form of programming a tool (e.g., in theses on conjoint analysis), an exhibit (e.g., in theses on product design), etc.
  • Length: 20-45 pages (depending on the topic and as agreed upon with the supervisor)
  • The guidelines for writing a thesis in the Department of Business Administration and Marketing apply.
  • The number of approved applications is based upon the capacity of the department.
  • Language: German or English (with German summary)
  • Please send us the following documents as one single PDF docu­ment:
    • Research proposal with preferred topic (max. two pages). The proposal should show the topic’s relevance and the motivation for pursuing it. Additionally, it should explain the objective of the thesis and stress its practical component. We reserve the right to reject unsuitable topics on the basis of these proposals.
